### Phase One Budget & Narrative

The proposed September 23, 2026 cash budget itemizes $25,000 across eight categories and explains cost assumptions, a proposed twelve-month sequence, and the intended evidence of progress.

Allocations are planning estimates for review. They are not vendor quotes, approved commitments, funds received, or a statement that the full fundraising target remains unfunded.

**Useful for:** detailed funding review, understanding project scope, and discussing the conditions needed before work proceeds.

Understanding the Figures

## Read a budget as a plan, and a result as documented activity.

### Carolina Cares planning figures

The twelve-month framework includes $25,000 for kit supplies, $3,000 for distribution and other direct costs, and $2,000 for administrative and indirect support. The estimated $25 direct-supply cost per kit excludes those additional program costs.

Approximately 1,000 kits is a target subject to funding, pricing, sourcing, and capacity. The separate 1,000-kit entry shown for 2025 in Candid is also expressly described there as a target, not a verified distribution result.

### Poston Preserve budget assumptions

The $25,000 proposed cash budget includes a $750 donation-processing allowance. If that allowance is fully used, $24,250 remains for the other listed costs. The allowance is a planning reserve, not a quoted payment-provider fee.

The proposed delivery period begins with an authorized start and is paced to available funds. Physical work depends on permissions and local input; conservation and incorporation-readiness activities are exploratory planning. The budget excludes private landholding costs, unrelated commercial publishing, and land acquisition.

A fundraising target is not a current balance or a funding gap. A funding gap must be calculated from reconciled receipts and confirmed commitments. See [Impact & Accountability](https://www.thepostonfoundation.org/impact/) for the distinction between historical activity, program targets, and completed work.

Organizational Review

## Public information should be useful and clear about its scope.

### Organization profile and leadership

The Foundation’s [Candid profile](https://app.candid.org/profile/9897244/the-poston-foundation-85-0559047/) brings together organization details, program descriptions, public-source information, and Foundation-reported disclosures. Its 2026 transparency seal recognizes information sharing; it does not turn a program target into a completed result or a proposed budget into audited financial statements.

The Foundation was founded in 2020; the profile lists a 2024 ruling year. The legal name is The Poston Foundation and the EIN is 85-0559047. [Leadership and governance](https://www.thepostonfoundation.org/leadership-and-governance/) identifies the three-member board and executive responsibilities.

### Additional records and accessible information
