Donation Policy

This Donation Policy explains how The Poston Foundation receives and stewards donations for the Carolina Cares Initiative and its fundable program, Carolina Cares Essentials Kits.

1. Organization and Program

The Poston Foundation is a South Carolina nonprofit corporation and IRS-recognized 501(c)(3) public charity. EIN: 85-0559047.

Carolina Cares is a direct-aid initiative of The Poston Foundation that provides practical Essentials Kits to South Carolinians facing hardship, housing instability, financial stress, short-term crisis, or resource gaps.

2. How Donations Help

Your donation helps The Poston Foundation purchase supplies, prepare kits, support distribution, maintain documentation, and continue building a transparent, accountable direct-aid program rooted in South Carolina.

Donations support supplies, preparation, distribution, documentation, and related charitable operations. Unless the Foundation accepts a specific restriction in writing, donations may be used where needed in furtherance of the Foundation's charitable mission and consistent with donor intent, applicable law, and responsible stewardship.

3. Essentials Kit Contents and Gift Examples

Kits may include hygiene basics, socks, first-aid supplies, shelf-stable snacks, water, seasonal items, resource information, and other essentials, depending on season, community need, and available funding.

Suggested gift amounts and examples describe possible uses. They do not guarantee a specific kit count, distribution quantity, item mix, recipient, date, location, or outcome. Actual purchases and activities depend on need, costs, supply availability, funding, logistics, and charitable program decisions.

4. Online Donations Through Zeffy

Online donations are processed through Zeffy. Donors may give through the embedded form on the Carolina Cares campaign page, through the donation page, or through the direct Carolina Cares donation form on Zeffy's website.

During checkout, Zeffy may invite donors to make an optional contribution to support Zeffy's platform. That optional amount is separate from your donation to The Poston Foundation.

5. Receipts and Tax Matters

Donors who give online will receive an official donation receipt through Zeffy. Any statement about deductibility is subject to applicable law and the donor's individual circumstances; donors should consult their own tax advisor when needed.

6. Refunds and Corrections

If you believe a donation was made in error or your receipt needs correction, contact the Foundation promptly. Refunds or corrections will be considered based on the circumstances, applicable law, funds already committed or spent, and Zeffy's processing procedures. Requests concerning a separate optional contribution to Zeffy should be directed to Zeffy.

7. Sponsorship and Recognition

Sponsorships help fund charitable work. Any name, logo, newsletter, social, website, material, or event recognition is an acknowledgment of charitable support, not advertising, an endorsement, or guaranteed promotional exposure. Recognition may vary depending on consent, timing, available channels, and event plans.
