Homeless Man Receives Unexpected Surprise
WACH FOX 57 documented early Carolina Cares direct-aid work in Columbia during the COVID-19 pandemic. The report followed Chris Davis after job loss and homelessness and described practical assistance that included a cell phone, clothing and documents for job applications, and outreach to prospective employers. Davis later secured employment in Greenville.
Historical context: Carolina Cares began as a direct community-assistance effort in 2020 and is now operated as a program of The Poston Foundation.

Current program illustrations
Carolina Cares campaign visuals explain the Essentials Kit concept and possible contents. They support an introduction to the program; they are not an inventory guarantee or proof of a completed distribution. Use the program page and funding package for current planning assumptions.
Historical records and coverage
The 2020 archive records the origins of the Carolina Cares effort. News coverage, outreach materials, and photographs belong to that period and should retain their original context. They do not establish the present distribution schedule, available supplies, or current policies.
Poston Preserve visual materials
The Preserve page includes campaign artwork, regional location maps, and links to public historical resources. These materials help readers understand the founding pilot’s setting in Poston, Florence County, and the Pee Dee region.
Geographic illustrations and historical references should be read alongside the proposed Phase One scope. They do not establish private property access, ownership, secured conservation projects, or government approval.
